‘Walking Tours’ Platform launched to provide a new facility to the tourists as part of the Incredible India Campaign

Recently, the Ministry of Tourism partnered with Genesys International to launch a ‘Walking Tours’ platform, which is one of the first such kind of initiatives that undertaken in any country. It is a unique and exciting product that will facilitate users to navigate and route their way through cities based on a number of interesting themes.

This new service was launched at a function organized in the capital in which the representatives of Tourism and Genesys International were present. The website WoNoBo.com was also launched as a part of this initiative. It is India’s first location-based service that offer ‘walk-throughs’ of streets across 54 Indian cities. This website supports user generated content & offers social media efficiency and facilitates creation of ‘local communities’ online.

Said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism that this new initiative mainly aims to grant the tourist by facilitating him/her to plan his/her tour. He stated that the Ministry of Tourism has set a target of holding one ‘walking tour’ of each state within 2 years. He also said that the Ministry of Toursim was the first in the world to launch such service to its travelers.

Genesys International highlighted the features of the new service that would be available initially around the roads of 5 major Indian cities and will soon be able to expand its distance to the top 54 cities just in a few weeks. They said that it would have mapped panoramic view of thousands of square kilometers and close to 10 million places of interest across the country. Those five cities whose tours were launched are Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Coastal Goa and Ahmedabad.

As the tour is the part of the website, so, users get full blown 360 degree view of the destinations and much more things like they can access, tag and review points of interests i.e. locations, hotels, monuments, parks, etc. Users can also view the interiors of several key locations that powered by a database of millions of places.
