Mysore or Mysuru was the capital of the Kingdom of Mysore since 1399 up to the year 1947. The city boasts of tropical savanna climate and extends over a land mass of 128.42 square kilometers. It is commonly known as the ‘Cultural capital of South Karnataka’ and is renowned for the Mysore style of painting. The Folk Lore Museum, Sand Sculpture Museum and the Regional Museum of Natural History attract a spate of visitors who enjoy exploring the exhibits that represent the city’s rich culture.
