Twenty one generations ago, Rao Karamsji built the marvelous Khimsar Fort, on the edge of the bleak Thar Desert. Rising above golden sand dunes, this citadel stands as menacingly as it did when it was built in 1523. It directly passed in lineage to his descendants and today, it is the residence of Karamsot Rathore. But the 11 acres of breathtaking grounds and the gigantic fort were too big to be used as a private residence, and hence a huge chunk of it has been converted into a hotel – WelcomHeritage Khimsar Fort that exemplifies royal Rajasthani hospitality amongst traditional and contemporary opulence.
